First you should stop at Castillo de San José, a fortress built between 1776 and 1779 in order to protect the island against pirate attacks. Nowadays it houses the International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC).
Afterwards, the second stop is La Recova Municipal in Arrecife, located in the street Manuel Miranda. La Recova Municipal is an old and cozy market of handicrafts and products from the island with a nice cafeteria to enjoy a pleasant breakfast.
Very close by you will find the Church of San Ginés. It was the first chapel of the town, built in 1574.
Then you return to the waterfront to pass by Puente de las Bolas (in english: Bridge of the Balls). This brige is the symbol of Arrecife and also logo of our company.
It was built in the eighteenth century to serve as a connection with the islet where you will find Castle of San Gabriel. It was built in the sixteenth century as a fort against piracy, in fact now houses the Museum of Piracy.
Later on you can just park your bike near the bridge and go for some shopping in the main shopping area of Arrecife, Calle Real.
After this you should slowly head back, but don’t miss a stop at Charco de San Ginés. Here you can complete your Arrecife route with a tapa and a beer in one of the many bars in this lively area.
